BIKE test: What can the new plus hardtails do?
Are fat 27.5+ tyres really our future? We tested six hardtails with the new B+ tyre format. Read in BIKE 7/16 how the plus bikes from € 1399 fared in the test.

"This is supposed to be the future?" Frank Herzog, one of our two reader testers, is amazed when he sees the test field for the first time. The thick tyres make quite an impression. And yet the mountain bikes with the Plus tyres cost less than 1700 euros. We are also excited to see the first large BIKE test group with plus-size tyres. Are the manufacturer's promises true? "Downhill as comfortable and fast as a fully." - "As sporty as a hardtail on the climbs." - "Bikes with guaranteed fun on the trail." To check this out, we chased six MTB hardtails with 27.5 inch tyres in 2.8 to 3.0 inch width and an average weight of 13.5 kilos over our test lap.

Not everyone is happy about the new 27.5+ wheel size

We recently wanted to find out what our readers thought of the many new products that have recently been launched, so we carried out a Online survey on our website. As many as 18 per cent of participants are critical of the pace of innovation in recent years. The market is unsettled. Customers want to avoid bad purchases at all costs. Especially when it comes to wheel sizes and tyre formats, the motto "bought today, outdated tomorrow" is slowing down the desire to buy.
