For more than 800 euros less than Simplon and Orbea, the Race 29er from the far north really does very well. The stiff, lightweight carbon fibre chassis (1071 g), which is state of the art with its X12 thru-axle, direct mount front derailleur and integrated post mount, provides a perfect template. A pushlock lever tames the firm SID fork for pedalling. In the tight forest slalom, the wide Syntace cockpit, the slack 69.8 degree head angle and the short chainstays (425 mm) made for a controllable, safe ride. We would also (almost) accept the equipment for World Cup use. Only the spongy X9 shifter scratched the well thought-out overall picture. However, with a few tuning grips, you can save a few hundred grams on the Revox Team. In terms of comfort, the Bergamont is in the midfield, but a carbon seatpost would certainly flex better. Top for this price: stylish Reynolds system wheels.
ConclusionStiff, good-natured racer at a fair price; doesn't have to hide from the more expensive competition.
