Individual looks meet average equipment and riding characteristics. The geometry was not 100 per cent to our liking.

As with most bikes in this group, we had to flip the stem of the Bergamont before we could ride it - the cockpit is quite tall due to the long head tube, the six-degree stem and the high riser bar. What's more, 29ers are significantly higher than 26-inch bikes anyway. Tenor: lower it! Bergamont delivers its first 29er with a customised frame that weighs almost two kilos. The curved seat tube allows for extremely short chainstays (425 mm), but also ensures a relatively short wheelbase compared to the frame size. This makes for a fun ride on the trails, while the effective Fox fork does its bit and responds superbly. The Revox is not one of the best on the climbs.
