Very short, high front, which makes the riding position very upright and comfortable. The handling is extremely lively and playful, yet the 29er wheels provide the necessary smoothness. On technical and winding trails, the Bergamont really shows off its downhill qualities. Schwalbe's Tough-Tom tyres on the front wheel are among the stronger representatives in the test field, which provides additional confidence off-road. The limiting factor, as so often in this test group, is the weak steel suspension fork. At least the rebound damping on Suntour's XCR 32 Coil is adjustable. A nice detail: the frame has internally routed shift cables, but points are deducted for the wide rear triangle, which can rub your heels when pedalling. The ten-speed Deore groupset skilfully rounds off the touring package. Tip: if in doubt, go for the larger size.
ConclusionComfortable tourer with a playful character and decent equipment. Short, therefore not for racers.
PLUS Manoeuvrable, decent tyres, 10-speed
MINUS Upright riding position, no quick-release saddle, fork
