Hamburg is also riding the 27.5-inch wave. A little more liveliness - which has always characterised the 26-inch wheels - would do the bright yellow sports bike good.

Bergamont gives away the liveliness with a 2.1-kilo frame and wheels weighing 4668 grams. Even the outstanding Schwalbe tyre combination can hardly make up for this. The riding position, including all the spacers above the stem, is balanced and compact. In terms of handling, the Metric's manoeuvrable athlete character shines through, as it wants to hurtle downhill with as much speed as possible. The tough Manitou fork is a little too progressive, which makes it almost impossible to utilise the full travel. However, the Shimano stoppers are easy to modulate and won't let you down even on the steepest terrain. Commendable: Bergamont offers a five-year warranty.

Conclusionagile sports bike with an upbeat, flashy look, but the new 27.5-inch tyre size makes it a little less lively.

PLUS High-quality tyre combination, good brakes, agile handling
MINUS Tough suspension fork, heavy frame

The Evolution tyre compound of the Schwalbe tyres rolls better, damps better and provides safety in corners.
