27 gears and Deore gears are the stand-out features of the Bergamont. On the downside, the completely undamped RST fork pops out like a pogo stick and bounces quickly. The frame is visually attractive and well-made, but heavy. With its steep geometry (72° steering angle), the Bergamont feels like a BMX when steering and leaves a nervous impression. Uphill you have to struggle with the heaviest bike in this comparison (heavy wheels). On the downhill section of the Lake Garda tour, your eyes widen in shock. The mechanical disc brake requires a lot of manual force.
CONCLUSIONNot suitable for off-road riding. Fork and steering make for dangerously unsafe handling downhill.
TUNING TIP: Fit lighter tyres.
