The centrepiece is being replaced: in future, Haibike will be using the most powerful pedelec mid-motor on the market in many models, the HPR 120 from TQ-Systems. Output: 120 newton metres of torque. The powerful motor is installed in all 2019 top models. In combination with the 630 watt-hour battery integrated in the frame, the TQ drive is one of the superlatives: In addition to the high-torque motor, the battery also has the highest sensor density on the market with 56 cells. Haibike is thus making the powerful TQ motor, which was previously only installed by M1 Sporttechnik, accessible to the masses.
Another feature is designed to support e-bikers on the mountain. We've all been there: you want to start up a mountain on your e-bike. You pedal, hoping that the motor will kick in and give you that decisive push to get you elegantly onto the saddle. But the motor doesn't respond. At the last second, you throw your foot on the ground to save yourself. The reason: the motor only reacts after one revolution of the wheel. But according to Haibike, there is now a remedy: the so-called Speed Sensor Disc. This speed sensor disc sends 18 signals per revolution to the internal system and ensures that the motor reacts even to small wheel movements. Haibike promises a significantly faster and more dynamic system thanks to the disc integrated into the frame.
One man's joy is another man's sorrow: according to Haibike, the coded disc should be impossible to manipulate. Passionate tuners would no longer be able to manipulate the speed lock. A step in the right direction.
A lot has also been done to the cockpit. A total of five different riding modes are available for the rider: Eco, Low, Mid, High and Xtreme. The modes can only be selected using the remote switch on the handlebars. Different colours on the switch indicate which mode the motor is currently supporting the rider in. As usual, the mode can also be checked on the display. This has been completely revised. Current riding data and system information, as well as training-relevant data such as heart rate measurement, cadence or calorie consumption are displayed on four different screen menus.
For all fans of digital interactivity, Haibike will soon be offering a new version of the eConnect smartphone app: eConnect 2.0 is the name of the app, which connects to the bike's sensors and reacts accordingly. It also includes an emergency function. After a fall, a message is sent to the user. If the rider does not respond, an emergency message is sent to two specified emergency numbers.
The app also offers the user automatic theft monitoring. When the function is activated in the app, the user receives a message as soon as the bike moves. The suspected stolen bike is then permanently tracked. The revised tracking function not only helps in the event of theft, but can also be used to record your own route.
The Haibike e-bikes with the new TQ motors and integrated 630 watt-hour batteries are available in the Nduro version from 6299 euros, with 180 millimetres of suspension travel and 2.6-inch wide 27.5-inch tyres. In the Allmtn version, the bike has 150 millimetres of suspension travel and rolls on either 2.5-inch wide 29-inch tyres or 2.8-inch wide 27.5-inch tyres. The price here: from 5999 euros.
