In addition to the very high gear range, the Swiss bike has the shortest chainstays in the entire test field. Together with the generous suspension travel (the only bike with 160 mm), the plus-size tyres and a capable spec, the bike scores highly in terms of riding characteristics. The sophisticated electronics offer many new functions, including various automatic options. However, the new motor and the beautifully integrated battery take their toll: at over 25 kilos, the Flyer is the heavyweight in the test field, and with 1043 metres of altitude, it brings up the rear in terms of reach.
CONCLUSION Top in difficult terrain thanks to great geometry. The new Panasonic drivetrain has room for improvement.
