Stevens E-Inception 2027: Three new aluminium full-suspension e-bikes expand the range

Our verdict on the Stevens E-Inception Aluminium models ​

With these three new aluminium models, Stevens is making the modern E-Inception platform more affordable for further target groups. The Bosch CX drive, the large 800 Wh battery and the geometry carried over from the carbon model form a well-developed foundation. Whilst the AM models are designed for versatile touring, the ED 7.8.1 is aimed at downhill-oriented e-mountain bikers looking for a bike in the mid-price range.

The E-Inception platform has long been established at Stevens. For the 2026 model year, the Full-Assist range was comprehensively revamped with a carbon frame developed from scratch. The next step follows in 2027: two all-mountain models and an e-enduro will also be fitted with a newly designed aluminium frame.

Visually, the aluminium chassis closely resembles the carbon version. More important than the similar design language, however, is the fact that Stevens has also adopted the universal geometry of the current carbon platform. This means the new E-Inception models are designed to offer modern, stable and versatile handling, without being limited to a single area of use.

All three new aluminium e-full-suspension bikes feature the Bosch Performance Line CX, a removable 800 Wh battery across all frame sizes, and compatibility with the Bosch PowerMore auxiliary battery. Handy for long rides or everyday use: the new frame also features an integrated kickstand mount. The tried-and-tested ‘mullet’ wheel combination – 29-inch at the front and 27.5-inch at the rear – remains unchanged.

For the rear triangle, Stevens has opted for a particularly robust design, which is also intended to simplify maintenance and assembly. A redesigned lower shock mount with an adjustment nut allows the play between the shock and the frame to be precisely adjusted. This is intended to improve the suspension’s responsiveness.

Whilst the two AM models are designed for a comfortable, touring-oriented riding position for long days in the saddle, the E-Inception ED 7.8.1 is more clearly geared towards downhill riding – its geometry and suspension are designed to offer greater control and reserves of power on challenging trails.

E-Inception AM 6.8.1: An introduction to the new aluminium platform

The E-Inception AM 6.8.1 is the entry-level model in the new aluminium range. It combines the Bosch Performance Line CX with an 800 Wh battery and a Shimano Deore M6200 12-speed groupset. For the suspension, Stevens has opted for an SR Suntour Aion36X EQ 2CR at the front and an SR Suntour Edge Evo R-LV shock absorber at the rear.

Like the higher-spec AM model, the 6.8.1 also comes with front and rear lights. The bike is available in two colour options: Nightstone and Slate Sky.

E-Inception AM 7.8.1: Smoother gear changes and Marzocchi suspension

Stevens positions the E-Inception AM 7.8.1 one step above this. The drive system remains the same: the Bosch Performance Line CX and an 800 Wh battery provide powerful assistance and plenty of energy reserves. For the gear system, however, Stevens has opted for Shimano’s Deore Di2 with twelve speeds.

The suspension features a pair of Marzocchi components. A Bomber Z1 is fitted at the front, whilst a Bomber Air shock is fitted at the rear. The AM 7.8.1 is therefore aimed at riders who want to combine the touring-oriented design of the all-mountain models with a higher-spec electronic gear system and a robust suspension setup, and who are prepared to spend an extra 1,000 euros.

E-Inception ED 7.8.1: Aluminium e-enduro bike for challenging descents

With the E-Inception ED 7.8.1, Stevens is adding an e-enduro model to its new aluminium platform. This model also features the Bosch Performance Line CX and an 800 Wh battery capacity. However, the focus is different: the downhill-oriented riding position is designed to provide maximum control when the trails become steeper, rougher and faster.

To complement this, Stevens has opted for a RockShox ZEB Select at the front and a RockShox Super Deluxe at the rear. The bike is fitted with a SRAM Eagle 70 transmission with twelve gears. The ED 7.8.1 is available in Wild Moss.
