The story of the Tyee is actually the story of an enduro bike. Over the years, the bike became more and more robust, more and more downhill-orientated - until it was finally a real heavy-duty machine for rough trails.
With the Tyee Trail, Propain is now taking a second direction. The new model remains true to the character of the series, but focusses more on versatility: efficient uphill, stable downhill.
With its suspension travel and variable geometry, the Tyee Trail is positioned exactly between classic trail bikes and full-blown enduro bikes - as a bike for riders who want to climb efficiently on long tours without sacrificing downhill reserves.
The frame is available in four sizes from S to XL and is approved for ASTM category 5 - i.e. also for demanding terrain. Like all Propain bikes, each bike is only assembled once it has been ordered. Assembly takes place in Vogt in the Allgäu or in Vancouver, Canada.
At the heart of the bike is the familiar PRO10 suspension system. There is 145 millimetres of suspension travel at the rear and a 160 millimetre fork at the front. A flip chip allows different wheel configurations. A 29-inch set-up is standard, but the bike can also be ridden as a mixed wheel with 29-inch front and 27.5-inch rear. A full 27.5-inch set-up is also possible.
According to the manufacturer, the suspension reacts sensitively to small bumps and should offer constant grip at the same time. The central riding position is aimed at stability at high speeds without losing agility in tight bends.
The Tyee Trail is available with Carbon as well as aluminium frame - both share geometry and chassis. The Carbon version brings according to the manufacturer from 14.4 kilogrammes on the scales (size M). It is primarily aimed at riders who appreciate long tours and efficient climbs. In addition to the weight, the stiffness is also said to have been optimised, while the material dampens vibrations.
The Aluminium version on the other hand, focuses more on robustness and an attractive price-performance ratio. It is designed for riders who ride their bikes on rough terrain and are less concerned about every gram, with the cables running through the frame or headset on both frames. TPR protectors protect the down tube from stone chips, and a special system is also designed to Reduce chain rattling.
Propain supplies the Tyee CF/AL Trail in four preconfigured variants:
All models can also be customised using the online configurator. There, riders can customise components, wheel set-up and design. If you are unsure, you can book a video consultation: Together with a Propain employee, the bike is then configured step by step - from the suspension to the tyres.
Propain remains true to its direct sales model with the new Tyee Trail. Orders can only be placed via the manufacturer's website and each bike is only built once the order has been received.
The entry-level price is 2,899 euros for the aluminium version. The carbon model starts at 3,499 euros.
