Sun, rocks, rattlesnakes - whoever competes in the Red Bull Rampage really wants to know! Red Bull TV will be broadcasting the spectacle live on 14 October 2016 from 18:30.

Be there when greats like Kurt Sorge (CAN), Andreu Lacondeguy (ESP) and Brandon Semenuk (CAN) demonstrate their unique skills and mental strength. You can find a short teaser here ->.

New rules, new event format, new location: the motto is "back to the roots", and the legendary Red Bull Rampage is set to be just like the first edition in 2001. In contrast to previous years, no heavy shaping equipment is permitted this year. Each rider has spent four days working on their own lines with a two-person "dig team", with four days of practice currently scheduled. The training is also sorely needed, as the freeride lines built in sandstone and rock are technically more than challenging and demand everything from the athletes.

This year, the jury is made up entirely of former riders: Randy Spangler (Head Judge), Josh Bender, Geoff Gulevich, Nico Vink, Mike Kinrade and Kyle Jameson will scrutinise the drops, lines and tricks of the Rampage participants. Who will win over the judges this year? Last year's winner Kurt Sorge will be keen to defend his title. But Catalan Andreu Lacondeguy, who won Red Bull Rampage 2014 and came second last year, will also be doing everything he can to deliver the best run. Or will Brandon Semenuk, who took home the People's Choice Award in 2015, win over the jury? It will certainly also be exciting for "old hands" such as Cameron Zink (CAN) and Darren Berrecloth (CAN), who have both been involved in the Rampage for many years and want to show everyone what they've got.

A total of 21 riders will be competing, the top 12 from the previous year qualified automatically and nine other athletes will receive a wild card. A panel of judges, former riders and experts from the MTB industry selected the wild card athletes in advance. The unique and new terrain near Virgin, Utah, will put the best freeriders, slopestylers and downhillers to a very special test.
