The Canyon Sender likes corners. It was extremely manoeuvrable on the test track and the testers had endless fun. It's not quite as comfortable on the downhill.

The Canyon Sender has already won a duel against the Pivot Phoenix in FREERIDE 4/20 is a winner. Although this transmitter is already in its third model year, the big bike is still up to date in terms of geometry. We were unable to elicit any information from Canyon regarding successors, but World Cup fans will have noticed that racer Troy Brosnan is experimenting with the K.I.S. steering assistant system. The bike tested here in the Mullet design comes very close. The Canyon is the only bike in the test field with Rockshox suspension. Nice feature: thanks to headset inserts, the reach can be adjusted +/- ( 8 mm). The chainstays can also be lengthened +10 ( mm).

We immediately felt at home on the transmitter. Need to get used to it? Not necessary! The Geo positions the pilot in the centre of the bike. The Sender curved, hopped and scrubbed over the 99 Jumpline park track - and all the testers hooted. On the downhill track, however, the Canyon had to let the competition, Propain, Mondraker and Specialized, go. Although the suspension is well-balanced and always controlled, it lacked comfort. The Sender lacked the flubber factor and consequently also the speed. The Sender needs to be steered more precisely over roots, rock gardens and steps. In tamer passages, the pilot benefits from a lot of counter-pressure and direct response behaviour.

Conclusion on the Canyon Sender CFR Ltd:

The Canyon Sender is still up to date. The bike is playful, manoeuvrable and cleverly equipped - great! Other bikes offer more comfort on full-blown downhill trails.

Stefan Garlicki (height: 1.84 m):

The transmitter is a curve artist. So manoeuvrable! I had expected more from the rear. Instead of being plush and plush, it hardened up in high-speed sections. In DH, I would choose the longer 445-millimetre chainstay setting.

Cheaper alternative:

Same chassis, different equipment. Optionally with Mullet or All-29 tyres. The simpler Fox Performance suspension works in the 1500 euro cheaper model. The brakes and drivetrain are both slimmed down versions. The equipment is nevertheless harmonious. Price: 4999 euros, weight according to the manufacturer 17.1 kilos.
