They love it fast and furious - big bikes are speed freaks. The Scott Gambler and the 29-inch version of the Propain Rage. They compete for victories in the World Cup, but are these racing bikes also suitable for amateur riders?

Nothing makes our eyes sparkle more than new big bikes. When they roll into the test cellar, we jump like little kids. Out of anticipation. This time we got our hands on the brand new Scott Gambler 900 Tuned and the Propain Rage CF. Both bikes roll on large 29er wheels, both are made of carbon, both are contenders in the World Cup. So let's get the bikes and head to Leogang!

Three test riders jump into the FREERIDE bus and speed off. Because Leogang is the perfect place to test these high-speed bikes: the UCI World Cup course, which will even host the World Championships in 2020. There are high-speed passages, potholes, roots and off-road edges. Right next to it: the challenging Flying Gangster jump course - ideal for testing the duellers not only for race suitability, but also for testing their park qualities. Because let's be honest: the majority of amateur riders are parkrats and freeracers rather than real racers with starting gates and flutter tape. After a long day on the trails at Bikepark Leogang, we finally know more!

Born in South Baden, Laurin Lehner is, by his own admission, a lousy racer. Maybe that's why he is fascinated by creative, playful biking. What counts for him is not how fast you get from A to B, but what happens in between. Lehner writes reports, interviews scene celebrities and tests products and bikes - preferably those with a lot of suspension travel.
