Anyone looking for a unique biking experience should definitely tackle the Matzalm Trail Tour. It starts in the centre of Leogang. Get on your bike and set off into the unspoilt and peaceful Schwarzbachtal valley. Follow the forest road and the bike signs LE 07 | Asitz Hillclimb to the start of the Matzalm Trail, which is located on the right-hand side of the forest road. The almost 1.5 kilometre Matzalm Trail begins at an altitude of 1410 metres, where a fantastic view opens up. The route alternates between root passages and sometimes challenging hairpin bends with a moderate gradient and a short natural rock garden down to the Matzalm. After the forest passage around the Matzalm, the trail descent begins: this is where flow fans get their money's worth, as the route out of the valley via the Embachalm and an alpine meadow plateau offers some flowy passages that provide that special tingling sensation in the stomach. The seclusion of the head of the valley and the fantastic panorama make for a crowning finale to the 12.8-kilometre MTB trail tour. You soon reach the forest road again, which leads back to the centre of Leogang.
The Matzalm Trail is particularly suitable for experienced enduro and freeride riders, as the forest passages in particular, with some beautiful hairpin bends, require a lot of skill. The ascent to the Matzalm Trail is also quite sporty at 624 metres in altitude and demands a good level of fitness.
