The Specialized Levo has already become a firm favourite among e-mountainbikes. For In 2018, the Americans refined the trail bike and equipped it with a carbon frame Weight saved. We were also impressed by the Levo, but when the going gets tough, the rear suspension reaches its limits. That's why Specialized is now offering an E-MTB based on its enduro bike.
The Turbo Kenevo has a 180 millimetre chassis and a downhill-oriented geometry: the slack 65 mm steering angle in combination with the low bottom bracket promises a smooth ride, while the reach is rather moderate at 455 millimetres in L. The Americans can shorten the chainstays on the Kenevo to 443 millimetres. So nothing should stand in the way of a playful riding style.
Specialized uses the same drive unit in the Kenevo as in the Levo: The new 1.3 turbo motor from Brose delivers 15 per cent more power. At the same time, Specialized claims to have increased efficiency and thus prevented any heat problems. In addition, heat is now better distributed in the engine compartment and the new housing should dissipate it better to the outside. The new software should also provide even smoother support and better decoupling above the 25 km/h limit. For the first time, the new control unit has a push aid, but remains inconspicuously small.
The equipment appears harmonious: A Rock Shox Lyrik suspension fork with 180 mm travel damps the front, while the Öhlins TTX 22M steel spring shock absorber damps the rear. The Americans use their own tyres: the 2.8 inch wide Butcher tyres with a new Gripton compound should provide sufficient grip. The Sram Code stoppers provide plenty of deceleration, while the eleven gears are shifted by the Sram GX drivetrain. For the time being, only one version of the Kenevo will be available in Germany, namely the 6300 euro Expert model.
