Premiere: We have never tested the Transition TR 11 before. We were all the more excited to see what Jaxson Riddle and Nico Vink had in store for us. Instead of World Cup successes, the bike can boast participation in Darkfest and the Rampage. In 2022, the US label has relaunched its downhiller and doesn't want to confuse customers with numerous models.
The Americans keep it simple: one model, one equipment, one material! Special feature: The TR 11 has an air shock. Reach and chainstays can be easily adjusted by +/- 5 millimetres. The equipment is solid, but can't keep up with the competition. The TR11 is fitted with the simpler performance suspension from Fox. Enough theory!
When mounted, the TR11 positions the rider comfortably in the centre of the bike. The bike quickly turns out to be a freerider: playful, in love with jumping, with lots of pop! Together with the Canyon, the Transition was the most fun for us on park trails like the 99 Jumpline. And that despite its super slack head angle (61°). On the former World Cup track, however, we were disillusioned: the bike reacts stubbornly, bucks, stumbles and makes the rider reach for the brakes early. All tuning measures, all attempts to elicit more comfort from the bike were unsuccessful. Although the suspension harmonised, it didn't develop the comfort you need on demanding downhill tracks.
The TR 11 is a first-class park freerider with a lot of fun. The geometry is pleasing. On downhill trails, the bike was overwhelmed and required a lot of effort. So park bike: yes! Race bike: no!
Everyone agreed on the Transition: last place in the race classification. With the TR11, you want to blast over built park tracks, this is where the bike feels at home. The TRP brakes worked remarkably well.
In addition to the tested model with GX drivetrain and Fox Performance suspension, only the frame kit with Fox Float X shock is available. In Raw or Misty Green (pictured). The chainstays can be extended by five millimetres. Price: 2499 euros.
