Over 1000 people didn't want to miss the long-awaited opening and came to the inauguration party in Ainet in the Lienz Dolomites last Sunday. Danny MacAskill and the Drop and Roll crew also travelled there to surprise their team colleague and bike multi-talent Fabio.
Endurance, courage and a great deal of skill are just as much a part of trial biking as strength and body control. Fabio and Florian have created a playground for trial beginners and pros alike in the midst of the magnificent landscape of East Tyrol. The area in the Adventurepark Osttirol is just as suitable for first tricks as it is for extensive training sessions. The course is unique in Europe and its location in the forest makes it the perfect training ground for anyone infected with bike fever, even at the height of summer.
Visitors to the bike park can test and improve their skills on obstacles made of wood, stones, cable reels and other materials in various sections. Bunny hops, height-adjustable drops and the Big Air Bag with a large approach tower provide plenty of fun. If you want to improve or perfect your skills, you can get professional support. Fabio himself organises workshops several times a year for all those who already feel really at home on the bike and want to refine their technique and get tips from a pro. Newcomers don't miss out either, as they can register for courses to familiarise themselves with the sport.
Fabio is absolutely happy with the result. "Trial biking is a sport for all ages and skill levels and can be really addictive. We wanted to create a place here where everyone can find the right challenge for them - and we've done that." Danny MacAskill and the entire Drop and Roll crew put the park through its paces and were thrilled. For Danny, one thing is certain: "We simply love the opportunities Fabio offers all bike fans here. We had a fantastic day at the bike park and are already looking forward to our next visit."
But there is even more to discover in the Adventurepark Osttirol. Adrenalin and non-stop fun can be had with white water rafting, canyoning or climbing, for example. At the base camp, it's time to relax, put your feet up and plan your next expedition in the region with delicious food and cool drinks. And for a well-earned night's sleep after so much action, there is a campsite right on the River Isel.
Adults pay 10 euros for a day ticket for the bike park, half a day costs 7 euros. Children up to the age of 14 pay 7 euros for the whole day and 5 euros for half a day. Of course, visitors don't have to bring their own bike or all their equipment, as everything a biker needs can be hired at the park. A trial bike, for example, costs 15 euros for the whole day and 9 euros for half a day.
