The man from the Black Forest wants to jump the 17 metre high "Jah" drop with his special bike. Freeride pro Matt Hunter takes a critical view. What do you think: should Adrian jump or not?

In the current issue of FREERIDE, Adrian Reiber (18) announces his intention to jump the dreaded "Jah" drop on his special bike. The "Jah" drop is considered the most legendary drop in freeride history. In the early days of freeriding, the US American and supper dropper Josh Bender tried to conquer this 17-metre-high cliff, but failed on a total of four attempts and was then convinced that the landing was simply too shallow. Since then, the "Jah Drop" in Kamloops, British Columbia, has been a place of pilgrimage for freeride fans - but has a reputation for being impossible. Now Adrian Reiber from the Black Forest is speaking out. The amateur freerider has had a special bike made for drops and wants to attempt the "Jah Drop".

We asked Kamloops local and freeride pro Matt Hunter about Adrian's plans and got a surprising answer: "Adrian, find your own cliff. The 'Jah Drop' was Josh Bender's project. Out of respect for Josh Bender, you should leave the 'Jah Drop' alone!" says Matt Hunter.

Is Matt Hunter's viewpoint sentimental or understandable? On the other hand, most Alpine peaks would probably be unclimbed if mountaineers adhered to a similar code of honour. Now we are interested in your opinion.

Born in South Baden, Laurin Lehner is, by his own admission, a lousy racer. Maybe that's why he is fascinated by creative, playful biking. What counts for him is not how fast you get from A to B, but what happens in between. Lehner writes reports, interviews scene celebrities and tests products and bikes - preferably those with a lot of suspension travel.
