A slim full carbon frame, plenty of suspension travel, 29er wheels and the massive power of the Avinox motor: this is how the Megamo Reason CRB was presented at Eurobike 2025. The bike is available with a lot or little suspension travel, in aluminium or carbon and various equipment variants from a comparatively fair €4999. However, despite its generous travel and 29er wheels, the bike was more of a lively all-mountain than a super-solid enduro bike. The new Reason CRB 02 model could change this and shift the focus much more towards downhill.
The bike is not new, only the equipment has changed. And that doesn't just apply to the update to the new Avinox M2S. Where the previous top model (to the test of the Megamo Reason CRB 01) thin tyres and a comparatively slender fork kept the weight down - but also slowed down the off-road reserves - Megamo now resorts to thick enduro parts. First and foremost the new suspension elements from Rockshox (tested here) could give the bike even more comfort and traction. The new ZEB Ultimate at the front, a Vivid Ultimate at the rear, plus fat Sram Maven stoppers. And the tyres have a doubledown casing from Maxxis instead of a thin EXO sidewall.
Megamo also uses Sram for the gears. Although the S1000 Eagle Transmission saves a little here, the smart functions such as shifting while rolling without pedalling are still possible. This package costs 8999 euros. It is also clear that the 21.4 kilos of the top model are significantly exceeded in this trim.
In addition to the equipment, the XL frame size is also new. Previously, the bike was only available in S, M and L. However, you have to be careful when choosing the size. Even size L is very large with a reach of 500 mm and a wheelbase of 1317 mm. Megamo recommends size L for riders up to 195 cm tall. According to the manufacturer, the XL has an additional 12 mm reach. The difference or gap between the sizes S, M and L remains large and smaller riders are likely to be left out in the cold.
The top model of the Megamo Reason CRB 01, trimmed for lightweight construction, clearly slowed down the bike's off-road qualities. The robust setup of the new Reason CRB 02 should emphasise the powerful geometry and the powerful 29er setup much better. We can't wait to see how the bike performs off-road and in the detailed test! - Florentin Vesenbeckh, Test Editor BIKE Magazine
