When Dominik Heinstein from True BC showed his new Knuth to the public for the first time, there was a lot of interest. Such a beautifully designed trail bike with a carbon frame, handmade in Germany, is not presented every day. True BC had already established itself as a carbon expert for lightweight rims and the new Knuth has a similarly elegant look and feel. After the final test phase, customers can now pre-order the trail bike with a choice of 130 or 135 millimetres of rear travel and high-pivot rear suspension with chain deflection.
According to True BC, the development status of the new Knuth trail bike is 96 per cent. Reason enough to start the presale of the first frames. While the regular frame price including shock and dropper post will be 4499 euros, pre-orderers will receive a discount of 1000 euros. If you order a True BC Carbon Ultimate wheelset including Berd textile spokes, you will be charged 4998 euros. Compared to the regular price, this is a total discount of 2000 euros. Interested buyers can also arrange a test ride in advance.
Delivery will take place as soon as all the necessary parts are available. True BC currently expects a delivery time of around six to ten weeks for frame size M and around ten to 14 weeks for frame size L. The mould required for the production of the carbon frame in size M is already available, the mould for size L is to be produced as soon as at least 15 paid pre-orders for all sizes have been received. If this number is not reached, customers will of course receive their payment back.
The debut bike from True BC is designed to take on demanding enduro trails and also impress on tours. Short chainstays of 433 millimetres in combination with a compact 27.5-inch rear wheel should ensure a lot of riding fun and agile handling in corners. A large 29-inch front wheel and a reach of 480 millimetres (in size L) provide the necessary smoothness. The steering angle is a slack 65 degrees, while the seat angle is a steep 78 degrees. A bottom bracket drop of 22 millimetres compared to the rear wheel axle is designed to harmonise perfectly with the progressive gear ratio of the high-pivot rear triangle.
The True BC Knuth trail bike relies on a fully integrated Eightpins seatpost with a long stroke. A UDH derailleur hanger, a threaded BSA bottom bracket and cable routing through an external channel are intended to simplify the construction of the frameset. Large bearings should ensure a long service life for the bike. The suspension travel is variable depending on the shock stroke.
I love light, progressive trail bikes! It's great to see that the True BC Knuth, an exclusive representative of this genre, is now going into small series production. A carbon chassis hand-built in Germany and the high-pivot rear triangle make this gem an extremely exciting bike. Fans can now secure one of the first frame kits and benefit from big discounts. - Jan Timmermann, BIKE editor
