"Awesome!", test editor Markus Greber exclaims after the first test lap. He looks at the rear triangle of the Cannondale Moterra Neo in disbelief. Really only 130 millimetres of travel? On the other hand, the bike is surprisingly stable on rough terrain - and this applies to the majority of the test candidates. We are testing touring bikes with 120 to 140 millimetres of fork and rear suspension travel and not suspension travel monsters. These bikes want to excel on longer rides in the mountains, providing riding confidence and fun. All the bikes tested have big siblings, i.e. at least one model in the all-mountain or enduro category. But what is the difference? And what can the little ones do better than their long-travel counterparts? One thing is certain: The test field is broadly diversified, with everything from moderate tourers to downhill bikes.
