Simplon goes E-Gravel: The Austrian manufacturer presents the GRID :eLight and an urban version. The motor is the TQ-HPR60 motor, which delivers 60 Newton metres of torque and 250 watts of power. Sporty performance, discreet electric assistance and high suitability for everyday use are combined in one bike.

Simplon is expanding its e-bike portfolio. With the Simplon GRID :eLight and the GRID 365 :eLight, the Austrian manufacturer presents two gravel bikes with a motor.

Drive: TQ-HPR60

Both variants rely on the newly developed TQ-HPR60 drive, which, according to Simplon, should provide a natural riding experience. The motor delivers a maximum torque of 60 Newton metres with a rated power of 250 watts. With a weight of 1.85 kilograms, the drive is particularly light. The assistance is limited to 250 watts. Its support is only noticeable when it is needed and otherwise remains inconspicuous. The battery is integrated into the frame and has a capacity of 290 watt hours. For longer tours, SIMPLON offers an optional range extender with an additional 160 watt hours. A 2-inch colour display in the top tube, which shows information on range, power and support level, is used to monitor the riding data.

Geometry

The Simplon Grid :eLight and the GRID 365 :eLight are based on a carbon frame which, according to the manufacturer, is designed for a defined flex behaviour. The Raptour carbon fork has special dropouts that are designed to increase riding comfort. Simplon has developed its own geometry for the new models, known as "Simplon Advanced Gravel Geometry". This combines the efficiency and dynamics of a road bike with the control of a mountain bike. In concrete terms, this means a flat steering angle, a longer front end, a short stem and a sporty, comfortable riding position. The tyre clearance is 45 millimetres as standard; without mudguards, tyres up to 50 millimetres wide are even possible. The GRID :eLight can also be optionally equipped with a 40-millimetre suspension fork such as the RockShox Rudy.

Screw-on points: Everything your heart desires

Simplon emphasises adaptability with the new E-gravel bikes. A total of twelve mounting points - six on the frame and six on the fork - allow various accessories to be fitted. The bikes are compatible with mudguards, lighting systems, pannier racks and the aforementioned suspension forks. The standard equipment includes powerful brakes, high-quality gears and tubeless-ready wheels.
