With the Raso Gravel Wide, the Italian frame manufacturer Sarto is launching a new gravel bike for racing on the market. The bike has been specially designed to meet the requirements of modern gravel competitions and is intended to combine the speed of a racing bike with the off-road capabilities of a gravel bike. The bike can either be purchased in a standard size and colour or customised. This ranges from the geometry and carbon layup to the finish and construction details. According to the manufacturer, the bike was developed in close collaboration with athletes to meet the requirements of races such as Unbound Gravel, the Gravel Earth Series or ultra-distance events. With a weight of 8.1 kilograms (without pedals in standard configuration), the Raso Gravel Wide is one of the lighter models in the gravel segment.
The frame is made of carbon and can be configured with different layups. As standard, either UD carbon or a tri-composite material is used for the outer layer, while a combination of M46J, CN80 and T800 fibres is used on the inside. Sarto specifies the torsional rigidity of the frame at 125 Newtons per millimetre. The bike can accommodate chainrings with up to 52 teeth to enable it to reach a decent speed and also push downhill. Simply racing DNA.
In order to provide sufficient safety and comfort for fast rides on rough surfaces, the tyre clearance is up to 48 millimetres when using a 2x drivetrain or even 55 millimetres with a 1x configuration. According to the manufacturer, this leaves enough space for mud and dirt, as is the case in typical gravel races.
The balanced geometry is designed to enable powerful climbing, confident descents and precise handling - even when the bike is fully loaded with bikepacking equipment. Both the frame and fork are equipped with attachment points for bikepacking bags and accessories, which increases the versatility of the bike. The newly developed fork and the reinforced rear triangle should also contribute to off-road capability.
The Raso Gravel Wide is equipped with a T47x86 bottom bracket, which is recommended by the manufacturer. The headset is designed in the dimension 1 ½ inch - 1 ½ inch. The UDH (Universal Derailleur Hanger) compatibility is intended to make the drive system future-proof, as it enables the use of current and future derailleur standards.
The equipment also includes an aerodynamically optimised seat post from Sarto with integrated, concealed clamping. This contributes to the clean look of the overall bike and is designed to increase comfort at the same time. Enrico Sarto, CEO of Sarto Bikes, explains: "With the Raso Gravel Wide, we wanted to meet the high demands of modern gravel sports, where speed and grip are the decisive advantages."
In the tradition of the Italian frame builder, the Raso Gravel Wide can be customised. Customers can configure the geometry, carbon layup, finish and construction details according to their wishes. Alternatively, the bike is also available in standard sizes and colours. The manufacturer emphasises that each Raso Gravel Wide is unique, combining Italian craftsmanship with uncompromising performance.
The Raso Gravel Wide can be ordered immediately. According to the manufacturer, the delivery time is around 12 weeks. Sarto was founded in 1959 and specialises in the manufacture of customised carbon racing and gravel bikes, which are made entirely by hand. The frameset in standard configuration will be available from 4230 euros.
