The Rose Hobo Dropbar is the latest addition to Rose's constantly growing gravel bike range. After the German direct mail order company Hobo with flat bar as an everyday and urban bike, now comes the version with racing handlebars for long-distance fans and bikepacking enthusiasts.
What makes it special: The Hobo follows the motto "only steel is real" and is based on a slim steel frame. Connoisseurs appreciate steel as a frame material for its comfortable, lively riding characteristics and timeless robustness. Thanks to its sales concept and practical features, the new Rose gravel bike also comes at an attractive price.
After Rose already has gravel bikes with both carbon and aluminium frames in its portfolio, the Hobo model is the first with a steel frame - 25CRM04 chrome-molybdenum steel to be precise. Like the flatbar version, the dropbar version rolls on a 650B wheel size, i.e. 27.5 inches. Rose hopes that this will not only provide agile handling, but also a high level of comfort and traction in combination with 47 millimetre wide tyres.
The frame and fork offer a full 14 points and therefore enough options for attaching bags and accessories. So nothing stands in the way of your next bikepacking trip on the Rose Hobo Dropbar. Of course, the versatile bike is also prepared for mounting up to three bottle cages and mudguards. In contrast to the flatbar version, the Hobo Dropbar comes with a pannier rack at the front as standard, which is bolted to the head tube. The carrier included in the purchase price can carry a maximum load of 5 kilos.
For the time being, Rose is offering the Hobo Dropbar in a single equipment variant and two colour options. The price remains manageable at 1899 euros. Three frame sizes from S to L are available. The Bocholt-based company complements the steel frame with a carbon gravel bike fork. A mechanical Shimano GRX RD-RX81 shifts the eleven gears on a cassette with 11-42 teeth.
The hydraulic disc brakes also come from Shimano. The wheels are an in-house creation from Rose with a modern 25 millimetre rim width. They are fitted with gravel tyres from WTB. The handlebars from Ritchey offer plenty of grip options. Overall, the new Rose Hobo Dropbar is said to weigh 11.9 kilos.
