The Advanced Bikes Offroad Pro Gravel in our test wants to go straight ahead - and preferably fast. Lots of steam in a smooth E-gravel bike chassis.

Topics in this article

Despite the motor, the Advaced Offroad Pro Gravel in the colour "Future Dust" is lighter than some organic trekking bikes, even if the striking frame, bursting with edges and surfaces, looks rather beefy - especially the massive triangle above the Bosch SX motor.

How do you achieve this? With a lightweight, sophisticated carbon frame, few, not too heavy components and a not too large battery in the down tube. It can only be removed by the dealer - this also makes the bike lighter because it is simpler in terms of design.

Seat test: You sit here stretched out almost like on a racing bike. The unusually forward-curved handlebar also contributes to this, as the handlebar reach, i.e. the length from the upper handlebar to the bar, is increased as a result.

Advanced Bikes Offroad Pro Gravel: Fast forward

This forward orientation also puts more weight on the front wheel, giving it more riding stability. The riding position suits the handling: the bike wants to go straight ahead and is only keen to turn at slow speeds - it pushes forwards, preferably on the straights. Anyone who knows and likes this riding position is welcome on the very hard Selle Italia Model Y saddle. It's not really for beginners.

With the Sram Apex 11-speed drivetrain and a gear reduction, however, even beginners are quickly over the hill. For those who are not yet familiar with the shifting structure: Press the right-hand lever briefly up to the resistance to shift up a gear. Press beyond the resistance: one gear down. What sounds complicated quickly becomes intuitive. What is less familiar is the loud clicking noise when shifting gears, even when the pedal pressure is rather low.

What little Bosch is good at: Climbing. If you set a cadence of over 65, you will be helped in the turbo stage, and it's a hefty one at that. The cadence levels are displayed by the coloured LEDs on the top tube, where bars also show the current charge status. The Terra Trail tyres from Conti transfer the power appropriately to the ground - provided it is not too soft and/or muddy. At 4999 euros, you are certainly paying for the elaborate, fine carbon frame.

Conclusion: Advaced Offroad Pro Gravel - E-gravel bike test

Lots of power and straight-line stability, low weight: with the lightweight Advanced Offroad Pro Gravel, you are in perfect hands almost everywhere. The frame of the e-gravel bike also offers some damping and the drive unit provides plenty of power for sporty riders.
