The Spanish BH iGravelX NX E-gravel bike combines a hard-wearing carbon frame with the powerful SX motor from Bosch, which was developed in Swabia. Can they harmonise?

The new iGravelX NX is already the fourth platform with racing handlebars that the Basque manufacturer is offering with a motor. For off-road use, BH previously had the iGravel X with the BHZ motor from automotive supplier SEG in its range, while the northern Spanish company also offers the competition-ready Aerolight and RS1 with support. Like the other e-models, the iGravel NX is based on a carbon frame, but the use of the Bosch Performance Line SX is new.

The most important information about the BH iGravel NX

  • Weight of complete wheel: not specified
  • Motor: Bosch Performance Line SX
  • Top performance: 600 watts
  • Torque: 60 Newton metres
  • Battery capacity: 400 watt hours
  • Support levels: 4
  • Stack/Reach/STR: 578/402 millimetres/1.44
  • Max. tyre clearance: 55 millimetres
  • Frame sizes: SM, MD, LA, XL

The two-kilo drive is currently the most powerful of the so-called light motors. With a torque of 60 Newton metres and a peak output of 600 watts, the mid-motor supports up to 400 percent of your own pedalling power. The power is supplied by a 400 watt-hour battery integrated into the down tube. According to BH, ranges of up to 125 kilometres are possible. The system is controlled via a display integrated into the top tube.

According to the manufacturer, the frame is manufactured using so-called "Hollow Core Internal Moulding". The technology is intended to enable precise control of the wall thicknesses of the carbon tubes. BH also uses this production method for non-motorised racing bikes. The Basque company did not provide any information on the total weight or frame weight of the iGravel NX. Comparable e-gravel bikes with Bosch SX weigh at least 13 kilograms.

The fork, which BH refers to as the Air Bow construction due to the kink at the fork blades, is taken over by the iGravel NX from the conventional GravelX. Both platforms also share the integrated cables. According to the manufacturer, the frame set is approved for studded tyres up to 50 millimetres wide. Maxxis 45-millimetre tyres are fitted as standard.

Equipment and prices of the e-gravel bike

BH offers the new e-gravel bike in two equipment variants: The iGravel NX with mechanical Shimano GRX costs €5999.90, while the iGravel NX with electronic Shimano GRX Di2 costs €7499.90. Both models are fitted with aluminium wheels from Vision, while the Basque company has given the top model a lighter carbon handlebar.
