The Backroad family from Rose is now widely branched out: Its gravel concept consists of a technically and visually well-matched frame set with a mature, sporty character. It proves to be a very universal chassis: depending on the tyres and equipment, it changes talent and terrain. The randonneur version with a more affordable aluminium frame is also impressive across the board.
It is suitable for everyday use thanks to sturdy, long aluminium mudguards with an integrated lightweight luggage rack, a top lighting system and mounts for a rear kickstand. This means it can cope with demanding everyday routes to the office, but also a weekend tour with light luggage or extended road tours on flat and mountainous terrain with flying colours. The elaborate workmanship of the aluminium frame with its flowing shapes and artfully integrated seat post clamp deserves extra praise. On the test course, the Rose Backroad impressed with its superior straight-line stability, precise steering and nimble acceleration. The Conti tyres offer plenty of grip on asphalt, even in the wet, and provide excellent damping, but lose ground on loose surfaces.
