The bike manufacturer Advanced is known here for primarily urban two-wheelers and most recently for an e-MTB. Now the Offenbach-based company is presenting three models of an e-gravel bike. With its carbon frame, the Offroad Pro Gravel is said to be the lightest e-bike Advanced has ever developed. This much can already be revealed: It is also absolutely competitive in the e-gravel sector, if not at the front!
The Advanced Offroad Pro Gravel combines a certain lightness with E-Power support without compromising on performance or equipment. Ideal for daily commutes but also for weekend adventures, the gravel bike offers a wide range of customisation options to tailor it to your personal preferences.
The sporty geometry with an almost horizontal top tube and low-set seat stay as well as the high-quality carbon frame enable an agile and responsive ride. The Bosch drive system ensures that no climb is too steep and no path too challenging, even with bikepacking panniers.
The centrepiece, if you like, is the e-bike motor of this gravel bike. The Bosch Performance Line SX has already done a few laps with us - it is mainly used in light e-MTBs, but recently more and more e-gravel bikes have also been launched with it, for example the Canyon Grizl:ON or the Corratec E-Gravel EL.
And for good reason: the Bosch SX motor has a powerful 55 Newton metres of torque. The Advanced Gravelbike is fitted with a 400 watt-hour battery, which already achieves an acceptable range. For additional battery power, the gravel bike can also be equipped with the Bosch Range Extender PowerMore 250. The portable reserve battery can be easily attached to the water bottle holder and weighs just 1.5 kilograms with a capacity of 250 watt hours.
With a weight of 13.8 kilos (according to the manufacturer's specifications at frame height 47), the e-bike is still light enough to be lifted up quite effortlessly for carrying and thus be able to overcome obstacles such as stairs or fallen trees in the city.

The 40 millimetre wide Continental Terra Trail tyre offers enough grip to feel safe on any surface with the Advanced Offroad Pro Gravel. Alternatively, an even wider 45 millimetre tyre can be fitted - the frame and fork offer enough space for this. For all-round use (or a clean bum), mudguards can also be fitted so that the bike can be ridden in all weathers.
With its classic gravel geometry, the bike is suitable for all conventional gravel panniers. The Advanced Offroad Pro Gravel has suitable attachment points on the frame for bikepacking bags: four screw points each on the fork (left & right), three each under the top tube and on the down tube and two screws for mounting a bottle cage on the seat tube.
I wanted to combine the functionality of my gravel bike with the advantages of the technology of our Advanced bikes. - Chris Häfner, Head of Product at Advanced
The Advanced Offroad Pro gravel bike is available in three versions - the frame, motor and battery are the same on all of them. The wheels are Fulcrum Rapid Red 500 or 300 (on the most expensive model). The cheaper version is available for 4499 euros. The model called "Flat" has a mechanical Shimano Deore 10-speed gear system and is also decelerated by Shimano brakes.
The mid-priced model has Sram components: The gears are shifted with the electric Sram Apex AXS 12-speed, and the brakes are also from the Apex range. The price is 5299 euros. The most expensive model of the Offroad Pro Gravel costs 6499 euros and offers a Sram Force AXS 12-speed drivetrain and Force components throughout.
Sizes S, M, L and XL are available, which corresponds to a frame height of 47 - 59 cm according to the manufacturer. All gravel bikes are available in four colours.
MYBIKE: Chris, when did you first get the idea for the Gravel?
Chris Häfner: The first time I thought about developing an e-gravel bike was in March 2022. When Bosch introduced the compact and speed-based SX motor, I thought about how it could be used to build a slim, sporty and, above all, lighter bike. Right from the start, my aim was to develop an e-gravel bike that didn't look like it had a powerful battery installed in the frame at first glance. The only difference between it and a normal gravel bike was the weight and the motor. With the compact Bosch Powertube 400 and the lighter SX motor, the perfect foundation was laid for the first time.
How would you describe the person you had in mind when you developed the bike?
To be honest, I mainly had myself in mind (laughs)! I wasn't satisfied with the options for e-gravel on the market and, as a sporty gravel rider, all the models so far have been too big and heavy for me to really have fun with them in sport and everyday life. This convinced me more about the development than anything else.
As a passionate gravel rider, what special features were most important to you on the bike from the outset?
A sporty geometry and strong propulsion were particularly important to me. Above all, however, the riding dynamics should be such that you forget you're on an e-bike. We have achieved that!
How long did it take from the initial idea until you rode the Gravel in its final form for the first time?
About 13 months after the idea, we had the first frameset, which convinced us completely.
Is there anything that was different about the original idea than the final result?
No - the bike was basically developed as I had imagined it. We decided to bring out an additional version with a flat bar, as not everyone is a fan of drop bars. Together with the product team, we have also provided sufficient and sensible mounting points. So the bike is ready for bikepacking adventures.
You've been riding the Gravel privately for a while now. Is there anything that particularly surprises you about the final bike?
Right from the start, I was convinced of how light and agile the bike would be. However, actually riding it and using it in everyday life is something completely different! When riding sportily, you don't even notice the extra weight compared to an organic gravel bike and the weight means you can take the bike anywhere in everyday life without hesitation. Stairs and other obstacles in the city are simply no longer a problem, which is still a challenge with many e-bikes. The power and assistance ensure that you can get anywhere quickly. That's a whole new level of freedom!
