Together on two wheels: with its maximum permissible total load, the Bafang H550 has quite a bit to haul. It’s just as well that the rear motor delivers up to 1,000 watts.

French manufacturer UTO has unveiled the OG200, a compact e-bike that differs significantly from conventional models in this class: two adults can ride together on a bench.

The French e-bike manufacturer UTO, which until recently operated under the name Eovolt, is launching an unusual bike concept. The OG200 model combines the features of a cargo bike with those of a family bike. The most striking feature of the new model is a continuous bench seat that can accommodate two adults. With this, UTO is taking a different approach to most manufacturers in the industry: the bike is not intended primarily as a means of individual transport, but rather to facilitate shared mobility.

Flexible range of applications

The design of the OG200 allows for a variety of usage scenarios. When used by a single rider, it is ideal for everyday journeys such as commuting to work or going shopping. With two people on board, it becomes a vehicle for couples and friends. The maximum permissible payload of 200 kilograms also allows a child to be carried in an additional child seat, meaning that families can also get out and about on their bikes.

Folding footrests are provided for the front-seat passenger, which can be folded away individually. The low step-in height is designed to make entry easier and is suitable for people between 1.55 and 1.90 metres tall.

Technical specifications

The e-bike, which weighs 34 kilograms, is fitted with a BAFANG H550 rear motor and a 720 Wh battery from the same manufacturer. UTO states that the range is up to 100 kilometres. A SHIMANO Tourney seven-speed derailleur provides the gear changes. For riding comfort, the bike is fitted with extra-wide 4.0-inch SCHWALBE Super Moto X tyres and full suspension on both the front and rear wheels. Hydraulic four-piston brakes from TEKTRO are designed to provide the necessary braking power for the bike’s high overall weight. The lighting system includes a 60-lux front headlight and a rear light from SPANNINGA, both with automatic activation. The aluminium frame features smoothed weld seams.

The OG200 is fitted with two luggage racks. The front MIK luggage rack is designed to carry a maximum of 10 kilograms, whilst the rear MIK HD rack can carry up to 27 kilograms. This makes the bike suitable for carrying larger loads.
