Urban bikes are made for daily journeys through the city, ranging from minimalist to fully equipped bikes with lights, mudguards and pannier racks.
The 6TY is a typical urban bike with some interesting equipment details. It is one of the first bikes to be launched on the market with Fazua's new Ride 60 drive system. The motor has a maximum torque of 60 Nm and is powered by a 430 Wh battery. The Velo de Ville is also available as a step-through model. The pedelec can also be customised online. For example, you can choose between 27.5 and 28-inch wheels. For individualists, there are wooden grips, pedals and mudguards, a compostable housing on the Busch&Müller IQ-XS Friendly headlight, green compound tyres from Schwalbe and a natural rubber Brooks Cambium C17 saddle. In addition, the bike follows the Velo de Ville configuration principle with packages and individual components to customise the bike to individual rider requirements.
The dual-mode clutch hub of the Lemo One E+Bike makes it possible to mechanically decouple the hub motor from the rear wheel hub. The manoeuvrable pedelec then rides like a normal bike. If you also remove the Smartpac with 540 Wh battery and motor control unit, the Lemo weighs just 14 kilos. The Smartpac itself can reliably supply power to electronic devices such as laptops and smartphones. A smartphone app localises the Lemo remotely. The frame made of moulded and recycled aluminium is assembled using a special bonding process.
Rose has the Sneak+ in its programme especially for the city. With its minimalist design, sporty geometry and city-friendly equipment, the urban bike fulfils extravagant cyclists' wishes. At 3.5 kilograms, the rear wheel hub houses a fairly light and unobtrusive Mahle motor. A 250 Wh battery is hidden in the filigree down tube, and the only control element is a power button on the top tube. The Mahle Ebikemotion app for Android & iOS shows the battery charge level as well as the support modes. Additional features include a weather display, map navigation and the display of motor torque, range and speed. The fork is made of lightweight carbon fibre and the bike has LED lighting fully integrated into the handlebars and seat post. The pedelec is available in the colours "all white" and "all black". In the Sneak+ LTD version, the bike has a chain drive and, as the Sneak+ LTD EQ, a Gates carbon belt instead of a chain. This version is also equipped with mudguards.
With the Axel, Estonian e-bike manufacturer Ampler has launched a nimble commuter pedelec. Axel weighs just 16.5 kilograms and is equipped with lights, mudguards and a kickstand in compliance with the German Road Traffic Licensing Regulations (StVZO). The singlespeeder has a low-maintenance Gates carbon belt instead of a chain and rolls on 27.5-inch wheels with 50-millimetre-wide tyres. Cables and cables run inside the frame tubes and the battery can be removed from the down tube for maintenance purposes. The rear light integrated into the mudguard has a brake light function, while the front light comes from the Busch&Müller range.
Storck enters the trekking sector with the E:Raddar model range. The Erde. 1 model impresses with its modern bike design, has an SR Suntour suspension fork and a 7-speed hub gear from Shimano. There are two frame geometries to choose from, the Mixte version shown here in size S and a diamond frame in sizes M, L and XL. The Erde. 2 model has no gears and is intended as a single-speed pedelec for the city. Both urban bikes are powered by the proven, low-maintenance Gates belt drive and the sensitive E:Raddar motor.
People in Germany are tending to get heavier and heavier. They are increasingly using their bikes for transporting loads and children or as a towing trailer. With the new Horizon Plus, Bergamont is responding to the tougher demands of everyday life: the permissible total weight of the robust, everyday bike has been increased to a whopping 160 kilos thanks to the newly revised frame and components. Additional threads on the reinforced frame construction made of thick-walled aluminium also allow the mounting of a front carrier or frame bags.
Contoura crowns its in-house Fe steel frame line with two new Pinion models. Fe-16 is driven by a chain, Fe-17 by a Gates belt. Both urban bikes are made for ambitious tours and as commuter bikes for ambitious year-round cyclists. The contemporary steel frames with aluminium rigid forks come with a tapered head tube, lowrider threads, thru axles and flatmount brakes and are available as diamond or trapezoidal frames. Voluminous 27.5-inch Conti tyres offer smooth running and high manoeuvrability. There is a choice of 15 colours.
