Trek is expanding its range of e-bikes to include a full-suspension e-bike with a Bosch motor that prioritises touring comfort, carrying capacity and suitability for everyday use.
With the Allant+ FS, Trek is filling a niche that has so far been sparsely occupied in the e-bike market: the full-suspension touring hybrid that makes no compromises on either comfort or everyday practicality. The similarities with the Diamant Suvea platform are obvious. The price of just under 5,000 and just under 6,000 euros is in line with the market and, given the spec – Bosch CX, 800 Wh, a Fox fork on the top-of-the-range model and a full set of everyday kit fitted as standard – is entirely reasonable. The only thing that might limit the customer base somewhat is that Trek has restricted the range to just two frame sizes. Anyone looking for an e-bike that’s equally at home with commuting, weekend rides and gravel trails should keep the Allant+ FS on their radar. - Adrian Kaether, Test & Technology Editor
With the Allant+ FS, Trek is ushering in a new era for its Allant+ range. This full-suspension e-bike was developed specifically for the European market and manufactured at Trek’s own Diamant factory in Hartmannsdorf, Saxony. It is no coincidence that even the shape of the frame compared to the sister model, the Diamant Suvea, which does not have full suspension. Trek’s message is crystal clear: the Allant+ FS is designed to offer the best all-round full-suspension experience in the electric hybrid bike segment.
The Allant+ FS’s key selling point is consistent comfort. The full suspension has been specifically designed for touring. Mixed terrain comprising uneven tarmac, gravel tracks and longer rides, where traditional trekking bikes reach their limits. The geometry is designed to promote an upright riding position. An adjustable stem allows for personalised adjustment. Unusually, instead of the usual four, Trek offers just two frame sizes, which are intended to accommodate riders from 1.55 to 1.95 metres in height.
When it comes to the drivetrain, Trek has opted for tried-and-tested components on the Allant+ FS: The Bosch Top-Motor Performance CX (reviewed here) It delivers up to 120 Nm of torque, making the Fully capable of handling heavy loads and more challenging gradients. Power is supplied by an 800 Wh battery in a practical three-quarter-removable design – a solution that Trek has adopted from its sister brand, Diamant. The large Bosch Kiox 500 colour display handles the readout.
The Allant+ FS is available in two trim levels:
The Allant+ FS 6 R10 is available at an introductory price of 4,999 euros It is available and comes with Suntour suspension and a mechanical Shimano CUES 10-speed derailleur.
The Allant+ FS 6 R11 Car means 5,949 euros in the price list, and goes one better with a high-quality Fox 36 AWL suspension fork offering 140 mm of travel, as well as the Shimano CUES 11 Di2 electronic groupset. All in all, it’s the more well-rounded package, primarily thanks to the superior suspension.
Both models are available exclusively with a diamond frame and weigh 30.1 kg – a realistic figure for a full-suspension, fully-equipped e-bike with an 800 Wh battery.
What sets the Allant+ FS apart from a pure sports bike is its consistent approach to equipment. Fitted as standard are a Clever Rack Pro luggage rack, SKS mudguards, integrated front and rear lights, and accessory mounting points on the top tube. The integrated accessory tube and the ‘Clever Cockpit’ integration also allow for a tidy mounting of accessories and navigation devices.
