Santa Cruz is otherwise best known for its high-end mountain bikes. Now the Californians are also venturing into the stylish and lightweight e-bike segment. The Skitch has been available in the States for some time, but now the bike is also coming to Europe. The full carbon frame sets on e-bike system from Fazua (tested here). The motor delivers 60 Nm of torque and provides support up to 25 km/h. A modern geometry with a short stem should ensure agile handling. The bike is prepared for suspension forks with 40 mm travel, but comes with a rigid carbon fork from Santa Cruz as standard.
The compact Fazua Ride 60 motor works with an integrated 430 Wh battery in the top tube. The charging time is 3.5 hours. Three support modes are available: Breeze, River and Rocket. A boost function briefly increases the power to 450 watts. The LED display in the top tube shows the battery status and riding mode. A USB-C port allows you to charge your smartphone or GPS device. It is controlled via the Fazua Ring Control.
The Skitch rolls on 28-inch gravel wheels with WTB ASYM i25 rims and DT Swiss 370 hubs. The gravel version with racing handlebars is not available in Germany. The flat bar version offers 50 mm wide tyres. SRAM Apex brakes with 160 mm discs front and rear provide deceleration. The drivetrain consists of SRAM Apex 12-speed gears with a 10-50 tooth cassette and Praxis Etor cranks with a 44 tooth chainring. The bike is designed for seat posts with a 27.2 mm diameter and is dropper compatible.
