E-bike specialist Coboc is expanding its product range with a stylish, minimalist fitness e-bike. With the new Sydney model, the Heidelberg-based company aims to combine an urban riding experience with fitness training on all routes. Categorised by Coboc as Urban Sport, the Sydney clearly demonstrates its ambitions as a training device: it is both light and stable and offers an ergonomic riding position. The sporty and streamlined Sydney borrows from cross and racing bikes and is therefore just as suitable for paved paths in everyday life as it is for extended weekend tours with detours over gravel paths.
Typical of Coboc is not only the slim and clean silhouette in matt Emerald Grey, in which the 380 Wh Coboc Electric Drive with the in-house CBC01 is hidden. The low weight of just 14.5 kilograms is also striking for the Heidelberg company despite the electric drive and therefore provides the best conditions for a sporty and agile riding style. The 28-inch wheels with relatively thin, 40-millimetre Schwalbe G-One all-round tyres are also designed for fast propulsion. This allows high speeds, especially with an electric tailwind, and offers reduced rolling resistance. The 11-speed SRAM NX drivetrain is predestined for speed beyond the tarmac, allowing you to tackle easy terrain or gravel paths with confidence and providing sufficient gearing for inclines. Powerful disc brakes ensure good braking power.
For all its sportiness, Coboc has also focussed on riding comfort: In contrast to a racing or gravel bike, the Sydney has straight handlebars which, together with the sloping top tube, enable an upright riding position, even if the sporty saddle is borrowed from a racing bike. A total of four frame sizes for women and men between 1.58 and 2 metres tall allow plenty of individual flexibility. Each frame offers enough space to attach a bottle cage or lock to the seat tube or top tube.
And if the trip to the café or across the country takes a little longer, the Supernova Mini and the frame-integrated Coboc LED rear light ensure the necessary safety on the way home. The sporty urban sports bike is equipped ex works with an SP Connect mobile phone holder on the headset cap. Coboc has dispensed with components such as pannier racks and mudguards to make the bike as light as possible. However, these everyday helpers can easily be retrofitted if required.
The Coboc Sydney is now available from specialist dealers for 3999 euros.
