​New Moustache Lundi: A futuristic e-bike for everyday use with a Bosch hub motor

Moustache is giving the Lundi 27 a major overhaul for 2026. Instead of a mid-drive motor, the new Bosch Hub Line hub motor is powering the rear wheel for the first time. Added to this are a removable 360 Wh battery, two drive options and a futuristic design which, in my opinion, is very well executed. The concept is aimed less at maximum range and more at hassle-free urban mobility. The price is fair given the spec and the well-thought-out platform.

The Bosch is now fitted to the rear wheel

In 2012, Moustache entered the e-bike market with the Lundi. For this new edition, the French brand is now breaking new ground and moving away from the mid-drive motor: the Bosch Hub Nabenmotor Line is housed directly in the rear wheel. The compact motor weighs 2.4 kilograms, delivers 45 Nm of torque and achieves a maximum power output of 400 watts. We have already tested the motor itself extensively. The compact PowerTube 360 battery enables a sleek design and, weighing just 2.1 kilograms, keeps the overall weight down. Despite the small battery, Moustache promises a range of up to 70 kilometres. The battery can be removed for charging and is easy to carry thanks to its integrated carrying strap. According to the manufacturer, the 4-amp charger brings it up to 50 per cent in 54 minutes, and it should be fully charged after just under two hours.

Belt or chain? Both are possible!

When it comes to the drivetrain, Moustache gives customers the choice. The Lundi 27 is available as a single-speed bike with a low-maintenance Gates belt drive – a combination that couldn’t be easier to look after for anyone who doesn’t have any hills on their doorstep. However, for those who need a wider range of gears, the new bike is also available with a 9-speed derailleur. Both versions cost 2,399 euros.

There are also two new size options. According to Moustache, XS/S is suitable for riders between 150 and 162 centimetres tall, whilst M/L covers the height range from 162 to 190 centimetres. There are four colours to choose from: Stone Grey, Black, Lavender and Avocado.

270 special editions at launch

To mark the launch, Moustache is also releasing a Launch Edition limited to 270 units. This comes in Chromatic Blue and combines a Shimano CUES 10-speed drivetrain with a Bosch Connect module, a special smartphone mount, a MIK front luggage rack and an integrated 80-lux headlight. A numbered plaque makes each model a collector’s item, so to speak. The price: 2,899 euros.

Editorial commentary

With the Lundi 27, Moustache is deliberately taking a different approach to many current e-bike concepts. Instead of the largest possible batteries and powerful mid-drive motors, the Lundi focuses on low weight, simple technology, ease of use and a fair price. The new Bosch hub motor and the small battery are what make the latter possible in the first place.
