For many years, Merida has stood for innovation in e-bikes, especially e-mountainbikes. For the 2025 season, the Magstadt-based company is presenting two concepts for urban e-bikes based on a frame platform and the new Bosch Performance Line CX drive. These are the facts about the new Merida eFloat models.

Was the new Bosch Performance Line CX motor the decisive factor? Or whether the idea of giving the urban e-bikes a major update had been lying dormant in the minds of Merida's product developers for some time? The fact is that the new generation is now here. Merida has expanded its product range with the eFloat CC and eFloat HD, two models that are being launched for the first time with Bosch instead of Shimano drive. They should be suitable for everyday rides to work or the shops as well as for touring at the weekend.
Urban e-bikes for cross-country and heavy-duty use

The abbreviations behind the model name are still strongly reminiscent of mountain bike models. This is no coincidence: the Merida eFloat CC is designed as a robust SUV bike that can be ridden on light terrain as well as in the urban jungle thanks to mountain bike tyres and a 120 mm suspension fork.
The Merida eFloat HD is a lightweight cargo bike that extends the standard transport capacity of the eFloat with a robust rear and front carrier. Ideal for riders who are looking for a load capacity of up to 50 kg but don't want to do without the slim silhouette and easy manoeuvrability of a "classic" bike. Both e-bikes come ex works with the telescopic seat post familiar from mountain bikes. The saddle can be lowered at the touch of a button. This is practical when starting off at traffic lights with a lot of luggage or to create more freedom of movement on the bike in demanding riding situations.

Motors, batteries and displays on the Merida eFloat models

For the first time, Merida bikes are equipped with a Bosch motor. This is unusual in that the brand has otherwise relied exclusively on e-drives from Shimano. However, there are also simply good reasons for switching to Bosch. The new CX is really quiet for an electric motor and also delivers a lot of power. Even among E-MTBs, the new Performance Line CX is one of the absolute top units. The particularly smooth ride feel and the low pedalling resistance when the assistance is switched off or above 25 km/h also score points in the everyday and trekking sector.
Depending on the equipment variant, there are batteries with 600 or 800 watt hours in the down tube. In our experience, the new 800 in particular delivers an outstanding range. If that's not enough, you can easily connect the optional Powermore range extender for 250 additional watt hours thanks to the practical charging port in the bottom bracket area. You are also spoilt for choice when it comes to the displays on the new Meridas. From the minimalist LED remote to the new Purion 200 display with a small screen to the large Kiox 300 and 500 screens, everything is possible.
