What's going on? When the Storck Name:2 turns up, you quickly expect it to perform tricks on the city pavement. The BMX-like look with small but wide 24 mm tyres, the super-wide carbon handlebars and the low down tube don't lie: the bike has come to put on a show. The riding position is more MTB-like, and at 16.5 kilos the bike rides like one too: nimble, very manoeuvrable and willing to corner.
At 50 Newton metres, the Fazua 50 Ride Trail is not as powerful as the newer 60, but provides a pleasant boost. The e-bike motor is switched on via a panel on the top tube, which then displays the charge level and support mode via LED. When starting off, it responds quite directly and, even at a higher pedalling frequency, delivers power in line with the rider's pedalling power. Overall, this e-drive doesn't quite come close to the harmonious interaction between man and machine of the newer 60; with a range of 45 to 50 kilometres, the Storck Name:2 is a good choice for urban use.
The lightweight Storck Name:2 carbon frame itself is also a piece of art: the seat tube is "missing" on the left, the chainstay on the right. It looks crazy, but it's design - and many people like it on second glance. The bike with fat 24-inch tyres is certainly not lacking in stiffness. If you dare, you'll be able to sweep round really tight urban corners quickly and safely with perfect control. The Magura disc brakes brake with correspondingly high performance. They are crisp but finely controllable.
Another delicacy: the supposed single-speed bike is shifted via a Classified hub in the rear wheel hub. This hub gear for sports bikes - which is becoming famous in the gravel sector in particular, as it efficiently replaces the derailleur on derailleur gears - provides the second gear. Minimalism that doesn't just stand for itself: Thanks to the Gates belt drive and this gearbox, the Name:2 is one of the carefree e-bikes in the lightweight pedelec comparison.
Needless to say, the Storck Name:2 is also easy to ride without a motor. If you like the flat, sporty position and the enormous handlebar width, you can also use the bike for short commutes in the city thanks to the pleasantly stable mudguards, small carrier and high-quality lighting. The Name:2 can even be practical, at least when it comes to transport and storage: The bike is very easy to grip and carry by the top tube, and it can be stored in the garage with the handlebars in a horizontal position to save a lot of space.
Do you like the shape, or do you dislike it? The Storck Name:2 with Fazua motor is strikingly sporty and urban. It's a bike that's great fun for the young-at-heart, hip ice-cream parlour scooter or office commuter with self-confident sporting genes - provided you have the necessary change.
