BIKE classification of District+

Trek positions the District+ as an everyday bike without any unnecessary frills. The concept isn’t revolutionary, but it’s sound: a tried-and-tested Bosch motor, practical features, a wide range of sizes and a straightforward pricing structure. With a starting price of 2,499 euros The range is positioned in the highly competitive mid-range segment. However, small, clever details such as the factory-fitted mobile phone holder make a good first impression. – Adrian Kaether, Test & Technology Editor

With the District+, Trek is launching a new range of e-city bikes on 20 August 2026, aimed at everyday cyclists. The concept sounds straightforward and focused on comfort: low-step frame, Bosch motor, lights, mudguards, luggage rack – that’s it. We’ll take a closer look to see whether this is convincing in what has now become a highly competitive segment.

Low-entry bikes in four sizes and three colours

The District+ is available exclusively as a low-step model – that is, with the characteristic low, curved frame, which makes getting on and off the bike easier and is particularly practical for shorter everyday journeys. The range is available in sizes S, M, L and XL. There are three colour options: Cobra Blood (a dark red), Dark Star (black) and Lunar Silver.

Comfort as a core promise

With the District+, Trek has consistently focused on comfort features that make a real difference in everyday use:

  • Suspension fork (SR NEX E25 on most models) is designed to soften the impact when hitting kerbs
  • 30 mm spacers and tall stems on the head tube for an upright riding position
  • Adjustable handlebar stem, to fine-tune the seating position to suit individual preferences
  • 50-millimetre tyres – relatively wide tyres for a stable, comfortable ride

This adds up to a well-rounded package for commuters who want a relaxed daily ride – without any sporting ambitions. However, this budget-friendly fork is usually quite heavy and requires a bit of maintenance in everyday use. The suspension response should be adequate for potholes or kerbs, but not for small, rapid impacts such as those encountered on cobblestones.

Fully equipped, including

The District+ comes fully equipped as standard. ‘Always On’ lighting, mudguards and a MIK HD Luggage Rack are fitted as standard. The latter is compatible with the widely used MIK accessory system, which significantly expands the range of possible combinations with bags and baskets.

The standard feature is lovely universal mobile phone holder, which is included with every model in the range. Beneath this is an SP-Connect Standard, which is also already very widespread. This consistently reflects the trend towards integrated smartphone mounting in the cockpit – handy for navigation or simply for stowing your mobile safely whilst on the move, whilst still keeping it within easy reach.

Bosch as a drive platform

Depending on the model, two different, affordable Bosch motors are used. The Active Line Plus is new and appears to complement the Performance Line, which is already good value for money Downside. No problem – even the more affordable Bosch motors generally deliver smooth and reliable performance, offering everyday drivers far more power than they actually need. These are the models fitted:

  • Bosch Active Line Plus (60 Nm) – the new, affordable Bosch motor, positioned below the Performance Line, for the District+ 3 models
  • Bosch Performance Line – for the premium District+ 4 models

It is controlled via the Purion 200 Display, which is simple and user-friendly. Additional features, such as navigation, are available via the E-Bike Flow app. Battery capacities range from 360 Wh to 600 Wh, and the battery can be easily removed from the bike by lifting it upwards. The battery is, of course, secured with a lock.
