After the MYBIKE test in issue 2/18, Corratec addressed the few points of criticism and revised the Life S for 2019. The pedelec now has a sturdy chain guard that also covers the chainring all the way round. The cover, which was bolted over the frame knot and appeared somewhat improvised, is neatly welded and integrated into the frame on the 2019 model.
The fork has been widened slightly so that the front mudguard no longer hits the fork tubes. The rattly spring flap of the pannier rack clamps tighter and no longer rattles against the rack struts. The disc brakes and lighting system have also changed, without this making any difference when riding.
It is a pity that the Bosch Intuvia display has had to make way for the smaller Purion instrument cluster on the handlebar grip. It offers significantly fewer functions and is more difficult to read in its position on the strongly curved handlebars. However, Corratec assures us that the Life S can also be ordered with the Intuvia display for an additional charge. Otherwise, the price of €2,499 remains unchanged.
In return, you get a nice e-bike for the city, with thick tyres that attract attention. The low, "reclined" riding position is pleasantly relaxed on short journeys and you can comfortably put both feet on the ground when stopping. The Bosch motor always provides enough assistance to allow you to make rapid progress in the less dynamic riding position.
