The Dutch bicycle manufacturer Koga Miyata has come up with a particularly transport-friendly compact bike: the Adaptor.

An easy-care, simple and robust bike with compact dimensions for easy transport and storage. The low wear and maintenance requirements, especially of the belt drive, make the carefully crafted and thoughtfully equipped Adaptor a hard-wearing means of transport.

The gear ratio of the smooth-running belt drive corresponds to the combination of 44 to 16 teeth of a chain drive. Together with the voluminous tyres of the 20-inch wheels, this results in a range of between 2.26 and 6.86 metres. The Adaptor is therefore not at home in the mountains, partly due to the relatively large gear steps of the Nexus gear hub. For extended tours on flat terrain, however, it can be ridden at quite a good speed, and if there is a hill in the way, it can also be tackled with dignity.

After inserting the seat post and handlebar stem and folding the handlebars and pedals, the all-round bike shrinks to a reasonably manageable 89 x 25 x 162 centimetres (size M/L), making it easier to store in a car boot, caravan, guest room or boat.
