Where the magic happens: Automagic
Woom calls its latest gear shifting creation "Automagic". As if by magic, the hub shifts between the two available gears without the need to operate a gear lever. From a speed of around 11 km/h, the hub shifts into overdrive. If the speed drops, the hub automatically shifts back to first gear. This means that even longer tours with parents should no longer be a problem. Even children from the age of four can ride at higher speeds without having to pedal too fast. The shorter ratio of the first gear helps when climbing uphill. Another advantage of the Woom hub gear: It requires very little maintenance. Only the chain should be lubricated regularly.
Woom Original 3: for children between 4 and 6 years old
But the Woom Original 3 is not only characterised by the new automatic gear hub. It has been specially developed for children up to the age of 6 and is adapted to their physical requirements. This includes an ergonomically adapted saddle, short brake levers and the right handlebar width. Weight also plays a major role in a children's bike. The lighter the bike, the easier it is to manoeuvre. According to the manufacturer, the Original 3 should weigh 6.1 kilograms. For comparison: without gears, the lightweight 16-inch children's bike weighs 5.4 kilos. To protect the children's bike and the walls of the house from damage, it is equipped with rubber pads on the handlebar ends and saddle.

Two-colour brake helps with learning on the Woom
To get kids used to the front and rear brakes, the Woom developers have painted the rear brake lever green and left the front brake lever black. This should make it easier for kids to learn how to brake. The 16-inch tyres on the Original 3 come on aluminium rims and have reflective tyre sidewalls. This makes it easier for young bikers to be recognised in the dark. Another component helps to prevent falls: The flexible steering stop limiter is designed to prevent falls by preventing the handlebars from over-rotating. The chain case also prevents the trouser leg from getting caught in the chain.
