The mountain bike is the best children's toy in the world. Industry giant Scott has also recognised this and is promoting the next generation in a five-part video series. The Heroes inspire Heroes films cover all aspects of the topic, from the right equipment and riding technique to planning family trips. BIKE accompanies the project on its online channels and shows the videos exclusively. Let's start with the first episode "Why should kids ride bikes".
However, due to the coronavirus restrictions, Scott has decided to postpone the release of the video series to a later date.

Climbs are boring for kids and strenuous to boot. The hut tour with children? difficult to do without support. With these solutions, you can get your children to their destination and have fun at the same time.
Towing aid: Tow Whee
Long climbs offer children little action. What's more, the little ones simply don't have the stamina for strenuous climbs. The Tow Whee is a highly elastic bungee rope that allows children to be hooked onto the rope as they climb uphill. Between a length of 1.5 and 4.5 (!) metres, the rope is constantly under tension. This prevents the handlebars from jerking when starting off, and the rope does not drag on the ground or get caught between the spokes. The tow wheel can be attached to the stem of the child's bike and to the seat post of the towing vehicle in a few simple steps using the quick-release fastener. The set consisting of rope and Quick-Loop carabiner is available from retailers for 55 euros >> available here.
Trailer: Tout Terrain Streamliner
With the Streamliner, the next generation sits in its own saddle like a real biker. The only difference is that instead of a front wheel, a drawbar provides the connection to the towing bike. Instead of just being a passenger, children can pedal, change gears and actively participate in the tour. The 8.9-kilo trailer has a robust steel frame and 160 millimetres of suspension travel. The suspension can be perfectly adjusted using the air damper. The drawbar connects the Streamliner securely to the towing bike, making real off-road riding possible. At 1185 euros, the trailer is no bargain. However, the Streamliner is manufactured by Tout Terrain in Freiburg and is extremely stable in value and in demand on the second-hand market. www.tout-terrain.de
In the front row: Kids Ride Shotgun
The pillion for mountain bikes. The additional seat is clamped to the top and down tubes using a quick-release system. Once adjusted to the corresponding bike, the Shotgun assembled in just a few minutes. The view from the front row is really great fun for children aged two to five. The advantage: you can communicate with each other. The footrests give the child support, but easily get in the way of the tyre. 155 euros.
