The Yuma is the bike from Propain for young downhill aspirants and was one of the first real children's fullys on the market. Although the new version has lost a few millimetres of suspension travel, it has been updated in detail and is lighter. Practical: there is now space for a water bottle in the frame triangle, while a small frame bag can hold a multitool and energy bars just in case.
What the Yuma 2022 doesn't have in common with Propain's adult bikes are the options offered by the online configurator. The Kids bike is only available in one equipment variant. Only the colours of the head tube badge, the grips and the decals can be configured. There is also the option of a tubeless kit. The frame is available in either badmint or Venom black.
The fork and shock must be specially tuned so that the suspension still responds sensitively, even with bike flyweights from 1.30 metres tall. For the fork, Propain now relies on the Manitou Junit with 140 millimetres of travel, which is specialised for low body weights.
At the rear, the Rockshox Deluxe Select R shock also offers 140 millimetres of travel. The saddle, seatpost, stem and handlebars come from the in-house kids' component brand 1st Ride. Gears and brakes are still provided by Srams GX 1x11 and Guide T. The wheels are now supplied by the Allgäu-based wheel experts from Newmen.
2199 Euro is the price of the Yuma, which is 300 euros more than before. A lot of money for a bike that in most cases will eventually become too small. But Propain has taken precautions. Although the Yuma comes with 24 inch large wheels, but can be easily adjusted by means of a flip chip. 26 inch convert.
As with bikes for adults, the same applies to children's bikes: the lighter the bike, the easier it is to chase down the trail. The Yuma should be now, with its 140 millimetres of suspension travel, 12.7 kilogrammes on the scales. The manufacturer promises a weight reduction of 300 grams compared to the previous model.
