Jürgen Schlender from Alutech Cycles wants to make it easier for children to get into mountain biking. According to Schlender, the problem with most children's bikes is inferior suspension, which does not work properly with a low body weight. That's why he decided to produce a bike with a 140-millimetre suspension fork and 130 millimetres of rear suspension travel. The suspension elements for the bike come from Manitou and are designed with special air chambers for low weights.
The Alutech Joo 26 works exclusively with 26-inch wheels, for tougher use with tyres up to 2.4 inches wide. Only one size (XS) with a 370 millimetre seat tube is available. The standover height of the Joo 26 is 740 millimetres.
The tube set for the aluminium bike is made up of tubes from various existing Alutech models. The down tube, for example, comes from the Cheaptrick trail hardtail. Elements such as the integrated cable routing or the exchangeable shock mount are familiar from the Alutech Fully Fanes, among others.
The bike is available immediately, is only sold as a complete bike for 2499 euros and weighs 13.65 kilos.
