A 26er bike based on the 29-inch principle: the lightweight carbon frame of the Bulls Tokee Ultra Lite is geometrically reduced as far as possible and accommodates 26-inch wheels. They give small riders the experience of sitting between the wheels. The rollover behaviour is clearly better with the large wheels than with 24-inch wheels. The 2.1 inch wide Rocket Ron tyres also roll very easily.
In principle, this bike is rideable from around 1.30 metres tall. The head tube is super short, and the bottom bracket is also low, which provides safety. However, the medium-length crank of 150 millimetres indicates that Bulls has designed the bike more for riders over 1.40 metres. Our tester Dario, at 1.43 metres tall, fitted perfectly on the bike.
Weighing 10.5 kilos, the Tokee is the racing bike in the test field. "Ultra Lite" is still a bit of an exaggeration: About two kilos could be saved by using lighter components. Bulls charges 1399 euros for its children's hardtail. The price driver here is the beautifully crafted carbon frame, which, however, reduces the scope for lighter standard equipment.
However, the 1x11 Shimano Deore gears with 11-51 sprocket set and the Tektro hydraulic brakes work perfectly. The grips also fit well in children's hands. Even with a low rider weight, the 80 millimetre travel of the Rock Shox Judy responds well.
All in all, the Tokee is a good all-rounder with a nice frame - for first races, tours and trail adventures.
The bike is nice and light and climbs well. However, I still liked the Vpace Fully better.
