Unlike its big brother - the BMC Twostroke in 29 inch - the Swiss have opted for a rigid fork on the children's bike. Instead, fat tyres on wide rims provide the necessary damping. The concept of the 24-inch hardtail for kids works on easy trails. With low air pressure in the 2.4 tyres, the BMC simply rolls over small roots. The large volume is easy to control with the wide handlebars. The slack steering angle makes for a smooth ride on steep descents and prevents rollovers.
"I immediately felt comfortable on the BMC kids' bike. I like the thick tyres and the wide handlebars. But it's too slow for me on tour. My own bike is lighter and more lively."
