Mountain biking is perhaps the most beautiful sport. BMC shares this view and wants to awaken a lifelong passion for biking in the next generation with the new Blast children's bikes in 20 and 24 inches.

Too late for the Easter bunny but just in time for the start of the season, BMC presents its children's mountain bike. Now that the days are getting warmer and the sun is drying the trails around the house, children are rushing outside. It's the best time to get them excited about their own hobby. The Swiss company BMC now provides the right means for this: the Blast children's hardtail in 20 and 24 inches.

20- and 24-inch children's bikes for young bikers from 1.10 metres

The Blast is now available in two wheel sizes. The 20-inch Blast is designed for a Height from 110 to 135 centimetres and is therefore aimed at children between the ages of five and eight. The price is 549 Euro. For young bikers with a Height from 120 to 145 centimetres BMC offers a 24-inch model for 50 euros more.

Thanks to low crotch height even the smallest riders will have no problems getting on and off the bike. BMC deliberately dispenses with a suspension fork in the head tube of the aluminium frame. In order to keep the weight low even with a robust design, a Rigid aluminium fork for use. The frame is Scratch-resistant powder coating to better withstand everyday use.

Without the front suspension, the engineers have recorded a weight saving of almost one kilo compared to the suspension forks available for children's bikes. According to the manufacturer, the BMC Blast 20 comes in at 8.6 kilos. Its larger sibling, the Blast 24, weighs just one kilo more, i.e. 9.6 kilos on the scales.

Everything for safety and control

In relation to the wheel size, the wheelbase of 833 or 927 millimetres on the BMC Blast is rather long, which speaks in favour of good riding stability. The 68 degree flat steering angle should make it easier for the small wheels to overcome obstacles. The cockpit with the 40 millimetre short stem and the extra-thin handlebars should allow kids to turn corners with precision on the Blast. The hydraulic disc brakes reliably bring the bike to a standstill. The 2.4 inch wide tyres provide around two centimetres of suspension travel and ensure traction on a wide variety of surfaces.
