Big at the back, small at the front - where do we know this tyre configuration from? "Right, from the baker's bicycle," says Andreas Schmidt, the project manager of the new "Moca". And we know all about this decades-old transport wonder: It runs well around corners and is stable even with luggage thanks to the small front wheel and the resulting low centre of gravity. Messingschlager, originally known as a wholesaler and importer of components, therefore wanted to revive the idea as a modern family cargo bike. The e-bike is designed to be adaptable for people from 1.50 to 1.95 metres tall and can be used for everyday trips, bulk shopping, the daycare route and weekend adventures. One for everything. How does the Messingschlager Moca 23 ride?
Schmidt dropped by MYBIKE before the presentation at Eurobike and let us ride the "Moca" prototype. The first impression - still without luggage: whether slow or fast, the e-bike rolls smoothly and strongly on its thick tyres, takes corners more than willingly, is lively when required and looks forward to every turn, no matter how sharp, despite the wide tyres. After the first test ride, the bike certainly seems suitable for long distances. However, its qualities actually lie more in urban short distances. The "EP6" from Shimano provides more than enough assistance and turns the little Raudi into a lively jack-of-all-trades. A wide range of accessories will soon be available for transporting children, shopping or bikepacking tours. We would certainly like to include the "Moca" in our next test in the compact cargo bike segment.
