Transport pedelecs are becoming increasingly popular, as these environmentally friendly and space-saving transport aids are a serious alternative to cars for short journeys. What's more, the motorised Cargos are legally bicycles and can therefore be ridden on cycle paths and often even in pedestrian zones without restrictions.
>> The Johannson Oscar S e-cargo bike had to compete against four other current cargo bike models in the "E-cargo bikes" test.
Cargo bikes are available in many versions; compact three-track bikes with two front wheels and tilting technology are relatively new. Thanks to their specially designed front axle, they corner like normal single-track, two-wheeled bikes. A successful example of this new generation of vans is the Johannson Oscar S.
The highlight of the Oscar S is the technically sophisticated double wishbone suspension with triangular control arms. The slender aluminium wishbones are milled from a solid piece, while an adjustable damper positioned at right angles to the direction of travel smoothes out road bumps. Thanks to this elaborate axle design, the Oscar and its rider and load corner with ease. Compared to single-track bikes, the bike has hardly any dynamic disadvantages in terms of cornering stability; it is similarly lively. The only disadvantage compared to single-track bikes is that three-track bikes generally require slightly more power to initiate bends.
At 38.5 kilos, the Johannson is no lightweight, but you can load up to 85 kilos onto the transport surface.
>> The permissible total weight of rider, bike and luggage is 223 kilos.
