Favourable fatbike from Scott
Alongside Specialized and Trek, industry giant Scott is now also entering the fat bike business. The Big Ed impresses with its balanced handling, good riding position and neutral steering.

Despite the highest wheel weight in the comparison - we are talking about almost eight kilos for the front and rear wheels - the Kenda tyres with 60-TPI carcass roll surprisingly well once they are on course. However, the 16-kilo bike is not lively when accelerating. Downhill and in technical passages, the short stem and relatively short chainstays ensure control and manoeuvrability. Because the seat stays are not curved inwards, riders with shoe sizes over 45 can graze the frame with their heels. The Q-factor of the e-Thirteen cranks, together with the Surly cranks, is the narrowest on the Salsa, which makes longer tours much more comfortable. Unfortunately, there is no preparation for dropper posts with internal linkage.

Conclusionrelatively inexpensive and therefore somewhat heavy fatbike with very good riding characteristics and balanced geometry.

PLUS Balanced handling, easy rolling tyres
MINUS High weight, heavy wheels, little heel clearance at the rear
