Carbon fatbike with top handling is really fun
Light, classy, expensive: "The fastest fatbikes on earth" is the slogan of Borealis from Colorado, which, in our opinion, doesn't promise too much. However, the high-quality equipment costs real money.

The company, which was only founded in 2013, is dedicated exclusively to bikes with tyre widths beyond four inches. At just 1629 grams, the lightweight carbon frame takes top spot in the weight ranking. The Echo also makes no compromises when it comes to equipment, with lightweight carbon cranks and XX1 gears. However, the 13.1-kilo package comes at a price. On the other hand, the Fatty from overseas impresses with an impeccable riding position and equally successful handling both uphill and downhill. With this propulsion-orientated, high-quality bike, you can not only stroll through the city, but also really step on the gas. Another positive aspect: it is the only bike in the test that has a telescopic seat post, making it easier to tackle challenging terrain. Only the large 32 t chainring does not fit into the overall picture.

ConclusionThe most expensive but also the best fatbike in the practical evaluation. The Borealis Echo impresses with its successful geometry and top riding characteristics.

PLUS Lightweight carbon frame, low overall weight, top handling
MINUS Chainring too big, expensive
